| Benjamin Oliver Lewis was born 09/15/1838. |
| Benjamin Oliver Lewis was married 01/28/1869 to Liza Jane Dendy |
| Benjamin Oliver Lewis died 09/01/1901 |
| Benjamin Oliver Lewis was the father to 12 children. Two died at an early age. |

| Young Benjamin grew up as a farmer in Montgomery County, Alabama. |
| Benjamin Oliver Lewis joined the Confederate Army and mustered in roll in Greenville, Alabama, 03/14/1862, at age 23. He was assigned to Company E, 33rd Infantry Regiment. |
| He fought in a number of battles though the Carolinas and Virgina. |
| The battles we know he fought in were Bull Run, Lookout Mountain, Corinth, Mississippi and Shiloh Church. |

| Our branch of the Lewis Family originated in Virginia |
| Our earliest known ancestor came to Alabama with his wife, two sons and two daughters |
| They came by wagon train through North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia. |
| Benjamin Oliver was the oldest son. |
| We do not have the names of the father, mother, two sisters nor the other brother. |

| Benjamin's father died while all four children were quite small. |
| Benjamin Oliver was farmed out to a big farmer in Montgomery County. |
| Before his death he owned 300 acres of land in Ramer, Alabama. |
